咲-Saki-(Gonzo) on account of a group of high school students who participate in extracurricular club mahjong. The anime of 25 episodes is primarily mahjong and comedy, with a tone very light yuri. For those who do not know, the mahjong game is to find a card like another, if not a gamble with chips designed for four people, very popular in Asia.
The protagonists Miyanaga Saki (Kana Ueda) and Nodoka Haramura (Ami Koshimizu) stand out among the other members for their supernatural ability to Mahjong. Nodoka Saki and participate in an intercollegiate tournament together with the other members of the club. The winning team will qualify to participate in the National tournament. An interesting point is the rivalry between Nodoka and Touka Ryuumonbuchi (Minori Chihara), which pays homage to Mahou Shoujo Nanoha Lyirical with cosplay and animated sequences very similar. Touka is constantly aware of your adversary, and often see themselves as Fate, and Nodoka as Nanoha. But Nodoka hardly know who is Touka, this will undoubtedly irritates a lot, and give attacks reminiscent of the memorable character of Yuri Shiratori, Nanami Kiryuu in Shoujo Kakumei Utena.
There is a large component of serious mahjong, and a lot of specific terminology. While it is not necessary to understand the main plot, it helps to know the rules of mahjong, specifically the Japanese rules.
